Tuesday in Brisbane

My trip back from Gympie was fairly quick, although I left the office just after 4:30 pm having carried the broken printer back to the car. I had an early night ready for Tuesday. All went well until I was ready to drive down the road to work. Although my work clothes were ironed and ready to go, and I made a sandwich in plenty of time, I still forgot the vital touch of mascara, lip gloss and SPF 15 foundation. Oh well, every now and then it doesn’t hurt to be myself a work.

Early in the morning, while having some oats with milk in a cup and a cappuccino, I messaged Kathy Johnsun about her torn Achilles tendon. She soon replied with an outline of her exercise program for rehab. It is much the same as the one for a foot fracture for a diabetic person. I had actually come up with the same type of program last week when talking to a colleague.

The day was a rush, though, with a few things to do like sort out receipts for my travel and catch up on emails and phone calls. A frantic call from a student at the last minute meant I was 15 minutes late out the door, but it doesn’t make much difference to the ride home. One day I will be going to gym after work, missing the traffic and getting a great workout to keep me fit.

Meanwhile, I am glad to be back in the city. Tomorrow I have PT. Awesome!

Gympie Monday

It was light early this morning so by 6:15 am when I drove up to Gympie, the road was clear and the sun was filtering through the trees. The round trip is about 300 kms and I had a fairly clear drive up the road ahead of me.

The two main stop offs are easier to recognise as I drive up to them now, so one day I will actually stop for a coffee or to walk around for five minutes. I can also find the turn-off for my street easily, although there is a loop under the bridge that is accessed from the left for a right turn. That’s another thing I will have to look up on the map before I try it out.

My main job was to bring back the printer which needs to be exchanged as it is not reliable. I also put up four pictures and three decorative mirrors with deep box frames. The curtains are the right width for the windows and have 25 pleats each, so I will just find some hooks and dowling rods with brackets to that they can hang in the bay windows.

Apart from leaving a matching container of milk in the top compartment of the fridge, I think I covered most of what was meant to be done. Hopefully someone will bring back my little container with or without sour milk in it if I remind them before the next visit.

Sundays are Lovely

This morning I had a cup of coffee and some oats while watching sport on the television while Mum and Dad were having a sleep-in, and later they were having their morning cup of tea. Mum wanted her hair coloured in the morning. We just managed to get it sorted out before I left for Music Ministry.

Quite a lot of people turned up for the choir this morning. Joe and Marietta were there, with Louis, Kevin, Priscilla, Kate and Mark. A couple of other people joined us at various times. Cathy does both choir and is a Minister of Communion, whereas Kevin does either one or the other.

The slides were completed in a hurry on Saturday morning, but were quite OK. Joe is going to look for some pictures to add to his slides, as he even noticed the ones that I had in the presentation. I looked up the responsorial psalms and other resources and found some good online things that might help with the music ministry.

This afternoon I washed the curtains to take up to Gympie office. They need some hooks, rings, dowling rods and brackets to actually fit them to the windows, but hopefully that can be sorted out before too long. They are packed in my car, ready to go.

Saturday Meeting and Sport

There was plenty of time this morning to tidy the house, attend a meeting and get ready for refereeing in the afternoon. The venue for football was twenty minutes’ drive away. It makes it so much easier than travelling almost two hours to a game and back again. That particular field has swarms of mosquitoes at sunset and thunderstorms after dark, or it seems to whenever I am there. This time I took insect repellent. The home team had some to share with officials and others.

I had two sets of slides to prepare this week, as Belinda is away. This I managed in the morning, but did not have time to check them through. Joe has started cataloguing his slides so that he can reuse them. That is a great idea, as it will save a lot of work in the long term. I think that cutting and pasting slides should be something that can be done easily with LaTex, and will look into that when I get a chance. I have to learn how to use LaTex first.

I look forward to going to Gympie on Monday. There are pictures to take up and I plan to rearrange the desks so that reception is not facing the galvanised roof opposite. It might take a while, but hopefully it will be better, even if I just draw a floor plan and leave it to other people to move things around.

Friday with Training

I only forgot my water bottle today for training at the gym. Normally I forget something, like deodorant or hair pins. There is a water fountain there, so it didn’t really matter much. My workout was interesting, but I think I have some work to do on different biomechanics. Apparently my PT does Muay Thai boxing, which is like specialised street fighting, so it sounds quite a handy skill to have.

A lady showed me how to use the hair straightener at the gym, which will be good when I have to shoot a video at work. It was a nice, quiet day with some apricot and coconut slice from yesterday’s meeting.
